Between accomplishing goals and self-care, the former tends to prevail thus leaving a brewing divide that not only extinguishes young lives but also futures filled with opportunity.
Sunday, October 10, 2021 marks World Mental Health Day, an international day for awareness and advocacy against the social stigma of ensuring mental stability. First celebrated in 1992, it provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.
Committed to the cause of humanitarian service, the UP Alpha Sigma Fraternity is hosting a Mental Health Awareness Webinar a day after, on October 11, 2021, via Zoom, at 2:00pm. To further bring the worldwide effort of advocacy on mental healthcare to the Philippine youth, we believe this educational discussion will be a great venue for discussing mental health struggles as a result of societal ills. Speaking in this webinar will be various representatives for the topics of sound mind in leadership, self-restraint with academic excellence, identifying self-harm, and promoting well-being among others.
It is with great honor that we will be having Atty. Chel Diokno, Dr. Melissa Mariano, Dr. Cedric Factor, Francesca Siasoyco, as speakers and Paolo Sevilla for the opening remarks, and the Mental Health Bill author, Senator Risa Hontiveros for the closing remarks.
Let us all become more aware about mental health and how we can help, not only ourselves, but also our friends and family even in these trying times.
